In Jiu-Jitsu class, children will meet many new friends and share experiences. Whether it is drilling techniques, playing a game or rolling – it is great practice for kids to learn to communicate with other kids of all ages, as well as authority figures like the instructors and assistant instructors. They learn there roll so to speak by being in this environment when to speak when to listen.
Builds confidence and self-esteem.
Confidence is one of the most important traits for any person to have. Martial Arts have been famous for developing this in people at very early stages in life. Do I need to compete to be a part of a MMA or Jiu-Jitsu Gym?
A common misconception about training in Martial Arts or taking a Martial Arts Class at a School is that you need to want to be a Professional Fighter in order to start training. Competing at any level is not required.
You can train Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, or Muay Thai and never ever fight. Most people actually are part of the gym for the fitness and most of all the community.
There is no reason that you have to fight professionally in order to be an important part of the gym or a school. You can come in and train, you can do all the things that we do get in shape, plus experience all the benefits of training like a regular fighter and never compete.
Now, if you want to compete, that’s great, lots of guys compete successfully but it definitely isn’t required. The majority of my guys don’t compete and never wanted to compete. They come in to train in their respected Martial Art, that they enjoy, be a part of a fitness community, and then go home to their family and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Simply because the minority is doing fighting doesn’t mean that you have to or if you don’t you are going to be treated any different then the rest of the fighters in the gym. I think that it is important for the School Owner to compete or at least have competed when they were younger. I think that most of the Good Coaches at one time or another fought at a high level.
It is very difficult to coach say a MMA Fighter if you haven’t fought before at that level.
I am not talking about a local fight night I am saying fought on a international level. Maybe not the UFC but at least the bigger shows. For BJJ I think you should have fought in the BJJ Worlds or something equivalent. I also think that it is important that the head coach for regular students to have competed at the highest level to insure that they are qualified to be your instructor.
Not only do they know what they are taking about, but they know what it feels like to be in that situation. In my gym everyone can enjoy the benefits of BJJ and MMA, as well as, get in shape and be an integral part of the Team Lutter family. Competing is just one aspect, the other stuff is “you know the life changing part”.
As an MMA trainee, you will be required to prepare your body to learn various fighting skills and combative techniques to defend yourself against your opponent and to defeat him during the challenges.
MMA training is all about hard physical labor, strong mental abilities, and great perseverance. While learning the MMA fighting styles, you will master a number of martial arts such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Thai Kick Boxing, Regular boxing, Russian Sambo, Wrestling styles, Judo, Karate, and Kung fu. Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand, where it was originated and was developed during the reign of Tiger King.
That ruler had a considerable command over MMA fighting skills. The traditional name of this fighting sport which is also applicable as a technique of self-defense is, “art of eight limbs.” This martial art got this name because it involves usage of hands, elbows, feet and knees. Thus, this martial art form involves all eight important point of contact which makes it very effective and dangerous art of self defense.
During the old ages, Muay Thaiexperts used to wear horse hairs or hemp wires (ropes) on forearms to protect the fighter against his adversaries.
In addition, these strips of horse hair or hemp ropes were also used to inflict the opponents severely. Later on, in modern times, conventional boxing gloves took place of strips of horsehairs or hemp ropes. Before 1932, groin kicks were legal and allowed and hence opponents used to wear groin guards made of bark of trees or seashells.The earliest beginnings of the arts of self-defence should be similar, especially amongst Asian countries, which emphasize fighting with all parts of the body such as throwing, thumping, breaking, punching, beating, knocking, thrusting and kicking, and so on.
It is believed that Muay Thai started by using all parts of the body for self-defence and for settling arguments, as well as for defending the country during the various wars.
Muay Thai was practised by the soldiers of the army in battle with neighbouring countries, in order to keep enemies from reaching them with weapons, such as swords, in combat at close-quarters. The Thais used the arts of Muay Thai, especially dtae and teep, to keep their opponents at a distance, as well as to keep them off balance so that they would surrender more easily.

However when it comes to MMA for kids, there is a lot you can do to improve your strength, conditioning, and fitness by following a MMA program that allows you to train at home.
MMA generally boils down to striking and grappling.
If you’re young and need youth MMA training tips, one big one that can be given to you is to practice those two aspects of the sport heavily. What good is being able to strike heavily, when you can’t free yourself from a grapple when you’re on the ground?
